This edition of my ‘today IPL match prediction’ analysis focuses on the upcoming IPL game between Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans. I expect this to be a hard-fought encounter between the defending champions and a strong Capitals eleven. While GT won the title in IPL 2022, DC barely missed the playoffs. They finished 5th overall.
This game appeals particularly to the sports enthusiast in me, as both teams are strong contenders for the IPL trophy. While Delhi Capitals will enjoy home advantage, skipper Pant’s possible absence could prove costly against the defending champions.

DC vs GT: Prediction & Tips
I focus my DC vs GT match prediction article on naming the probable elevens of the sides in the fray. I name the players likely to do well in the game. I go on to make several forecasts. DC Team Review
The DC innings will predictably be opened by Shaw and Warner. The in-form Sarfaraz Khan will walk in at number three. There is a cloud over Rishabh Pant’s participation this season. In the circumstances, I expect to see Yash Dhull and Lalit Yadav in DC’s middle order. They are likely to be followed by Marsh at number six and Axar Patel at number seven. Both players can play as finishers. DC’s best eleven should be completed with the inclusion of Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, Nortje and Sakariya.
DC must be considered one of the most balanced sides with strength in every department. Their bowling unit has plenty of variety. Apart from the pacemen, Ngidi, Nortje and Sakariya, they can rely on spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. In Marsh they have a potential sixth bowler if needed.

GT Team Review
As in IPL 2022, wicketkeeper Saha and Gill will open the GT innings. They will be followed in turn by Williamson, acquired by GT in the mini auction. Skipper Pandya enjoyed a lot of success last year when he promoted himself to number four. Miller will walk in next, followed by Tewatia at number six. With Rashid Khan in at number seven, GT have a choice of three players to play as finishers. R Sai Kishore will form a spin pair with Rashid Khan. The best eleven will be completed with the addition of seamers Alzarri Joseph, Shami, and Yash Dayal.

The two teams have met just once, in IPL 2022. GT won that match to take a 1-0 lead in the h2h comparison with DC.
DC vs GT Last Meeting
GT faced off against DC in the 10th match of IPL 2022, in Pune, on 2 April 2022.DC won the toss and invited GT to bat. GT got off to a bad start by losing Mathew Wade’s wicket in the first over. However, Shubman Gill came to the rescue with a series of partnerships with Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya and David Miller.
After Gill was dismissed, with the scorecard reading 145 for four in 17.1 overs, Rahul Tewatia played a cameo to help push the score up to 171 for six. Gill, who scored 84 from 46 deliveries, was GT’s top scorer in the game.
Mustafizur Rahman took 3/23 to emerge the most successful bowler for DC. DC did not have the best start to their chase. They lost three wickets for 34 runs by the fifth over. Then came a 61-run partnership between skipper Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav that put DC back on track.
However, after Lalit Yadav was dismissed in the 12th over with the scoreboard reading 4/90, DC lost wickets at regular intervals. In the event, they were restricted to 157 for nine, well short of the target. Rishabh Pant top scored with 43 from 29 balls. Returning figures of 4/28, Ferguson was the best GT bowler on the night.
Players to look out for
Even without Pant, DC have a strong batting line up. In Shaw and Warner, they have a pair of openers who have proved themselves in the IPL. Sarfaraz Khan has been in the news this year for his brilliant form. Yash Dhull and Lalit Yadav are capable batters too. Marsh and Axar Patel provide late order acceleration. Among the bowlers, Nortje, Ngidi and Sakariya are all match winners on their day. Kuldeep Yadav has recovered his form to return to the national squad. Likewise, Axar Patel merits his place as a bowler as well as a bowler.
Openers Gill and Saha served GT well in IPL 2022. Gill in particular has been in great form while playing for India. GT owe their maiden IPL trophy to Hardik Pandya’s all-round skills as a player. Rashid Khan is another all-rounder in the GT ranks who has delivered with bat and ball in crunch situations.
Toss prediction
It’s time now for my best toss prediction. I expect GT to win the toss in the match versus DC. The luck of the toss favoured DC the last time around.
Highest scorer
GT opener Shubman Gill will score the most runs in the match versus DC. Gill has been in brilliant form for India in recent months. I expect him to continue in the same vein in the IPL.
Highest wicket taker
GT all-rounder Rashid Khan will take the most wickets in the game. Khan has established a reputation for his prolific wicket-taking ability.
Highest sixes hitter
I predict that GT skipper Hardik Pandya will record the most sixes in the game versus DC. Pandya’s six-hitting ability needs no introduction.
Most economical bowler
I predict that GT’s leg break googly bowler Rashid Khan will concede the fewest runs in this game.
Most catches
GT keeper Saha is likely to take the most catches in the game, thanks to the presence of seamers such as Shami and Joseph in the GT attack.
