Kolkata Knight Riders versus Sunrisers Hyderabad is the topic of this ‘today IPL match prediction’ preview. Being the sports enthusiast that I am, this match intrigues me.
This is a game between 2 past champions, both trying to relive their past dominance. Neither side had a good run in IPL 2022. While KKR finished in seventh place, SRH finished one rung below in eighth.
KKR are one of the most balanced sides of IPL 2023. Admittedly, there are several other teams with more explosive batting. However, KKR are served by quality all-rounders and boast variety and experience in bowling.
SRH are certain to give KKR a run for their money. However, KKR will benefit from hosting the match in familiar conditions. Hence, I believe that KKR will beat SRH in the upcoming game

KKR vs SRH: Prediction & Tips
I begin my KKR versus SRH match prediction preview by naming the players likely to feature in the game. Among other things, I consider the head-to-head meetings that the sides had in the past. I identify the players I think will perform well in the game under review. I also identify the batsmen who are likely to record the most runs and the most sixes respectively.
Further, I name the players that will take the most wickets and prove the most economical respectively. I also name the player that I think will take the most catches. I even predict which team will win the toss. I want punters to read these IPL predictions 2023 before they bet at the best IPL betting sites.
KKR Team Review
Venkatesh Iyer will open the KKR innings with N Jagadeeshan. Nitish Rana, Andre Russell and Shreyas Iyer are three middle order batsmen at the team’s disposal. They will be followed by four all-rounders: Shakib, Ferguson Narayanan and Shardul Thakur. Bowlers Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy complete the 11.
With nine batters and seven bowlers, the team has enviable balance. Importantly, KKR’s bowling has plenty of variety. If I had to fault KKR, I would point to the fact that many of their players are ageing. It would be in the team’s interest for young players, such as Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer, to stand up to be counted in IPL 2023.

SRH Team Review
SRH will probably use Agarwal as an opener alongside Abhishek Sharma. At number three, they will probably use Tripathi, who incidentally played a few brilliant innings in IPL 2022. Brook, Markram and Phillips are an overseas trio that will man the middle order. All-rounder Washington Sundar will walk in at number seven and play as a finisher. The remaining four are Markande, Adil Rashid, Umran Malik, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
SRH came in for a lot of media flak when they paid a big price for Harry Brook. However, the decision to buy broke along with another expensive player (Agarwal) could prove to be a worthwhile risk. The batting is strong while the bowling has variety and experience. In fact, any of Malik, Bhuvneshwar, Rashid, or Sundar can win matches on the back of their own bowling.
Below is their latest Performance:
KKR vs SRH Head-to-head
KKR and SRH have played 23 times against each other in the IPL. KKR have won 15 of those matches, while SRH have won the remaining 8.
KKR vs SRH Last Meeting
KKR and SRH last faced each other on 9 May 2022 in Pune. KKR won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Venkatesh Iyer lost his wicket in 2nd over with the scorecard reading 1/17. Nitish Rana joined Rahane at the wicket and the pair added 48 runs before Rana was out in the 8th over. Some regular wickets reduced KKR to 5/94 before Sam Billings and Andre Russell got into the rescue act. They took the score to 157 in the 19th over before Billings was dismissed. Russell, unbeaten on 49 made from 28 balls, was KKR’s top scorer. Umran Malik (3/33) was SRH’s best bowler on the day.
SRH’s chase got off to a steady start until Rahul Tripathi lost his wicket with the score card reading 2/54 in the 9th over. Regular wickets thereafter restricted SRH to 123/8. Abhishek Sharma (43 from 28 balls) and Aiden Markram (32 from 25 balls) made the only substantial scores. Andre Russell (3/22) was the most impressive KKR bowler on display.
Players to look out for
The KKR opener Jagadeesan is coming off a great domestic season. The team management would expect him to bring that form into the league. They will probably try to build the innings around Jagadeeshan, with Shreyas Iyer and Andre Russell playing crucial roles in the middle order. KKR boast plenty of variety and experience in bowling resources. Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur are likely to prove the biggest threat to rival batsmen.
For SRH, their prized acquisitions in the auction — Agarwal and Brook — could prove to be their X factor. Sundar’s return from injury is another positive sign. The decision to buy Adil Rashid at the auction could also prove to be a winning stroke.
SRH will probably win the toss in the upcoming game.
KKR’s opener Venkatesh Iyer will probably register the highest score of the match.
Highest wicket taker
The most wickets will probably be taken by Shardul Thakur the KKR seam bowler.
Highest sixes hitter
The most sixes will probably be registered by Andre Russell, the KKR all-rounder.
Most economical bowler
The most economical bowler is likely to be KKR leg break googly bowler Sunil Narine.
Klaasen, the SRH keeper, will probably take the most catches in the upcoming game.
