IPL 2023: RCB vs LSG Match Prediction

Reviewed on

In this article, I present my Royal Challengers Bangalore versus Lucknow Super Giants match prediction for the upcoming match on 10 April.

In IPL 2022, RCB managed to graduate past the group stage. In the event they finished in 3rd place.

With the IPL returning to the home-and-away format, every team will get to play seven home matches. Playing before their loyal home crowds, RCB would want to do better in IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants finished one rung below, in 4th place.

The prospect of a contest between two such closely matched sides appeals to the sports enthusiast in me.

I believe that home advantage will have a strong influence on the match outcome. Royal Challengers Bangalore will beat Lucknow Super Giants in this upcoming match.

RCB vs LSG: Prediction & Tips

I have made numerous predictions in this RCB vs LSG match prediction preview. To begin with, I have speculated on the possible elevens the two teams will employ. I have also named the players likely to outshine others in the upcoming encounter. I provide my best IPL toss prediction for the game. I have gone on to make batting predictions. For instance, I name the players who will score the most runs and the most six hits. I have also made bowling predictions. Further, I have named the bowler who will snare the most victims and the one who will give away the fewest runs.

This edition of my IPL match predictions is intended to help punters who visit the best IPL betting sites to place wagers.

RCB Team Review

Predictably, Kohli and du Plessis will start the betting proceedings for RCB. They will be followed in turn by Rajat Patidar, whose batting was a highlight of IPL 2022. Lomror, Maxwell and Karthik will be the next three in the middle, followed in turn by Shahbaz Ahmed and Hasaranga. Hasaranga could also play as a finisher, though RCB have the likes of Karthik for the job. The remaining three in the eleven will be Siraj, Harshal Patel and Hazlewood.

Virat Kohli’s return to white ball form is the best news that RCB could possibly have. They would also want du Plessis to display the form that helped his former team CSK to their fourth IPL trophy. Karthik returned to the Indian team at age 38 thanks to the brilliant finishing ability he displayed in 2022. RCB bat so deep that only Siraj and Hazlewood can realistically be called tailenders. The form of Glenn Maxwell who has been battling with injuries in the recent past could determine whether RCB can win their maiden IPL trophy.

LSG Team Review

De Kock and Rahul are the traditional openers for LSG. Pooran, Hooda and Badoni will man the middle order followed by Krunal Pandya and Stoinis. Either Pandya or Stoinis can play the finisher’s role depending on the match situation. Mohsin Khan, Bishnoi, Unadkat and Wood will be the other four in LSG’s best possible eleven.

LSG’s batting Strength is exemplified by the presence of Pandya and Stoinis in the lower order. In Wood, they have an express paceman. Unadkat has been in brilliant form in the domestic season and the team management would bank on him to take that form into the league matches. Mohsin Khan gives them a third seam option. Krunal forms a spin duo with Bishnoi, while Stoinis can fill in as the sixth bowler when needed. The balance of the squad makes LSG a formidable rival.

Below is their latest Performance:

RCB vs LSG Head-to-head

RCB and LSG have played twice against each other in the IPL. RCB won both those games including a playoff that took place during IPL 2022.

RCB vs LSG Last Meeting

RCB and LSG last met on 19 April 2022 at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. LSG won the toss and elected to field first.

RCB did not enjoy the ideal start to their innings. They lost three wickets within the powerplay, including two in the first over. However, skipper du Plessis stood firm and rescued the innings with partnerships in the company of Maxwell, Shahbaz and Karthik. Thanks to these stands, RCB managed to reach a reasonable score of 181/6.

Du Plessis top scored with 96 from 64 balls. For LSG, Dushmantha Chameera and Jason Holder took two wickets each.

In their chase, LSG lost early wickets to be reduced to 2/33 in 5 overs. On the back of cameos from Rahul and Krunal Pandya, they got to a relatively good position at 3/100 in the 13th over. But once Deepak Hooda was out to the 3rd ball of that over, they lost the plot. A regular fall of wickets saw the scorecard read 6/135 in the 17th over. Some late order hitting from Stoinis was cause for optimism. However, Stoinis’s wicket in the 19th over signalled the end. LSG were eventually restricted to 163/8. Pandya (42 from 28 balls) was the top scorer. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood did the most damage with figures of 4/25.

Toss prediction

RCB will win the toss in the upcoming game against LSG.

Highest scorer

Kohli will use a combination of form and ambition to top score against LSG. It bears repeating that Virat Kohli has regained his best white ball form as was evident in the T20 World Cup. Kohli is expected to continue in the same vein in the IPL. Winning the IPL trophy is one of his unrequited ambitions. The former India skipper knows that this season, RCB have a great chance to fulfil that goal.

Highest wicket taker

I expect Wood to emerge the most successful wicket taker in the match versus RCB.

Highest sixes hitter

In a finishing role for RCB, Dinesh Karthik will hit the most sixes in the match.

Most economical bowler

Bishnoi will emerge as the most frugal bowler.

Most catches

Riding the quality seam bowling at RCB’s disposal, Karthik will take the most catches in the upcoming game versus LSG.

RCB vs LSG: Dream 11 Predictions

My ‘today IPL match prediction dream 11 is as under’:

  • Wicket keeper: Dinesh Kartik, Pooran
  • Batsman: Virat Kohli, du Plessis, Mayers
  • All-rounders: Stoinis, Maxwell, Krunal Pandya
  • Bowlers: Siraj, Wood, Bishnoi

Kohli will skipper the dream 11, Pooran will be vice-captain.
