It’s common knowledge that SRH plan to use Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma as opening partners.
Earlier, there was speculation that Agarwal would lead the squad. That speculation has since been laid to rest. The SRH management has announced that Markram is their chosen skipper. They also have confirmed players — Brook, Markram, Philips and Tripathi — for the next four positions. Washington Sundar’s return from injury is great news as he can play a finishing role with the bat. The others in the eleven are likely to be Adil Rashid, Markande, Umran Malik and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
It is easy to fault SRH for spending a fortune for an unproven player such as Harry Brook. However, the England player is proving his naysayers wrong with every passing day. Along with Agarwal, Brook adds value to the SRH batting just as Rashid brings variety to the bowling.

PBKS Team Review
The trio at the top of the PBKS batting order must be the envy of rival franchises. The likes of Dhawan, Bairstow and Livingstone can turn the course of a game with the bat. Bairstow is also likely to be the wicketkeeper. Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan represent domestic talent in the middle order. All eyes will however be on number six – Sam Curran who commanded a huge price at the auction. Curran will be keen to justify his price by performing with ball and bat alike. Rishi Dhawan, Brar, Rabada, Chahar and Arshdeep are the other five in the PBKS eleven.

SRH and PBKS last met in the IPL on 22 May 2022 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. SRH won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost an early wicket — that of Priyam Garg — in the 3rd over. Then Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi staged a mini recovery to put on 47 runs for the 2nd wicket. A regular fall of wickets reduced the batting side to 5/96 i the 15th over. Sundar and Markram got together in another rescue partnership until Sundar got out with three balls left in the innings. SRH ended up with a final score of 157/8 in which Abhishek Sharma with 43 from 32 balls was the top scorer. For PBKS Nathan Ellis and Harpreet Brar took 3 wickets each.
Bairstow and Dhawan put on 28 quick runs for the first wicket before Bairstow departed. Dhawan then got together in a 38-run second-wicket stand with M Shahrukh Khan. Dhawan stayed put even as wickets fell around him. When the opener was finally out with the scoreboard reading 112/4 in the 13th over. Liam Livingstone took charge of the innings and saw his side across the line for the loss of Jitesh Sharma’s wicket. Livingstone top scored with 49 from 22 balls. Fazalhaq Farooqi who took 2/32 was SRH’s best bowler on display.
Players to look out for
Given the huge price paid for them, Mayank Agarwal and Harry Brook will draw the greatest attention. Agarwal is a proven commodity in IPL, while Brook is touted as a future superstar across formats. Washington Sundar with his all-round brilliance could be SRH’s X factor in IPL 2023.
While there’s no doubting the ability of their top order batting, PBKS would also look up to their bowlers. Arshdeep has developed a penchant for taking wickets in the powerplay overs. He also has a cool head, enabling him to handle the pressure of bowling at the death. Rabada has for long displayed skill and experience for club and country.
