As a sports enthusiast who has watched competitive cricket for decades, this upcoming match intrigues me. It is a contest between two strong teams of IPL 2023, boasting world class talent in every department.
While RR made it to the playoffs in IPL 2022, SRH fell short. They eventually ended up in 8th place. However, SRH made good use of the auction to add strength and balance to the team. The addition of the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook and Adil Rashid is a step in the right direction. Hence, I believe that SRH will prove a bit too strong – if they play to their potential. So, I predict that SRH will win their upcoming game against RR.

In this section of my SRH vs RR prediction article, I consider the players likely to represent the two sides in the upcoming game. I zero in on the players that will probably shine in the game. I continue my today match prediction astrology with an IPL toss prediction for the upcoming match featuring SRH and RR. I have made several other predictions. These include naming the batsman likely to score more runs than any other. I also name the bowler likely to snare the maximum number of wickets. I even predict who will register the most sixes. SRH Team Review
In all probability, Agarwal will open the innings with Abhishek Sharma. Tripathi who top scored in the last game against RCB will walk in at number three. He will probably be followed in the order by the overseas trio of Markram, Brook and Philips. Sundar at number seven can bat a bit and is likely to play the finisher’s role. Adil Rashid, Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik will complete SRH’s best eleven.
SRH copped criticism when they broke the bank at the IPL auction to buy Harry Brook. That decision, along with the addition of Agarwal, could prove to be a winning stroke. The batting looks solid with the presence of Markram and Philips in the lower order. The bowling has good variety and class, with at least four potential match winners in Sundar, Rashid, Bhuvneshwar and Malik.

RR Team Review
The RR top order defines itself. Buttler and Jaiswal will open the innings. Samson will walk in at number three, followed in turn by Padikkal and Hetmyer. Parag the all-rounder will play at number six. Holder will play a finisher’s role at number seven. Bowlers Ashwin, Prasidh Krishna, Chahal and Boult will bring up the tail. Clearly, Parag will be expected to fill in as the sixth bowling option. Depending on the situation of the competition, RR could choose Joe Root over Hetmyer.
Overall, this squad has a brilliant top order. Apart from Buttler, Jaiswal and Samson, they have another slogger, Hetmyer, in the middle order. Furthermore, RR boast decent variety in bowling. They have Ashwin, an off-spinner and Chahal, a leg-break googly bowler. Trent Boult is one of the finest left-arm fast medium bowlers in world cricket. Prasidh Krishna bowls right arm fast medium, while Holder fills in as the third seamer.

SRH vs RR Head-to-head
In the past, the two teams have played 16 IPL matches against each other. Interestingly, each has won eight games. So, neither team has an h2h advantage over the other.
SRH vs RR Last Meeting
SRH and RR last met in an IPL game on 29 March 2022 at Pune’s MCA International Stadium. SRH won the toss and elected to field.
The RR openers put on 58 for the first wicket before Jaiswal got out on the first ball of the seventh over. When Jos Buttler was the second to go with the scorecard reading 75 for two Samson and Padikkal got together in a 73-run partnership. When Padikkal was dismissed with the scorecard reading 148/3 in 15 overs, RR had the platform they wanted. As it happened, RR went on to make 210 for six in their allotted overs.
Skipper Samson was the top scorer for 55 off 27 balls. For SRH, Umran, Malik and Natarajan took two wickets each.
SRH’s chase got off to a disastrous start when they lost three wickets for only nine runs by the fifth over. Regular wickets thereafter did not help their cause. They were eventually
restricted to a score of 149/7, falling well short of the target. Markram with 57 unbeaten runs off 41 deliveries was the top scorer. Chahal took 3/22 to register the best bowling figures for RR.
Players to look out for
SRH’s induction of Mayank Agarwal in the IPL auction could prove to be the most crucial decision ahead. Harry Brook – though an unknown commodity in the IPL – is gaining worldwide attention with his brilliant batting. The return of Washington Sundar and the addition of Adil Rashid are two more reasons for SRH to celebrate.
Apart from openers Buttler and Jaiswal, Sanju Samson armed with a bat is always a threat to rival bowlers. Among the bowlers, the likes of Boult and Chahal could compete for the purple cap. I would also watch the allrounder Holder closely, as the West Indian can influence the outcome of any game with bat and ball alike.
Toss prediction
Applying my today match toss prediction astrology, I predict that RR will the toss in the upcoming IPL game. SRH won the toss in the only match the teams played in IPL 2022. So, I expect the coin to fall in RR’s favour, this time around.
Highest scorer
I predict that Mayank Agarwal will make the most runs in the upcoming match between SRH and RR. Agarwal attracted one of the highest bids at the IPL 2023 mini-auction and he would be keen to justify his price.
Highest wicket taker
I predict that Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take the most wickets in the match. Kumar has developed the penchant for taking wickets in the powerplay. We are likely to see more of that trend in SRH’s tournament opener in 2023.
Highest sixes hitter
I predict that Harry Brook in SRH’s lower middle order will smote the most sixes in the game. Brook has already established himself as an attacking batter in all three international formats. He would also be keen to justify the high price SRH paid for him in the auction.
Most economical bowler
I predict that RR’s Yuzvendra Chahal will concede the fewest runs in the upcoming match. The leg spin googly bowler has earned a reputation for frugality.
Most catches
I predict that RR keeper Sanju Samson will take the most catches. I have made this prediction after considering the quality of seamers – Boult, Krishna and Holder — at RR’s disposal.
