Zimbabwe vs West Indies: T20 World Cup Betting Tips

Reviewed on

In the current edition of my T20 world cup betting tips, I look at a group B qualifier game between Zimbabwe and the West Indies. The winning team will enhance their chances of playing in the Super 12 phase of the competition. Zimbabwe have been extremely competitive in recent times. However, I predict that their superior international experience will help West Indies beat Zimbabwe in this crunch match.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Prediction & Tips

In this edition of Zimbabwe vs West Indies predictions and tips, I forecast the playing elevens of the two sides. I go on to analyse the head-to-head comparison between the sides. I revisit their previous meeting before making numerous other predictions. I also did a prediction for West Indies VS Ireland for t20 world cup.

These include forecasts relating to the highest scorer, highest wicket taker, and most catches, among others. I have devised these Zimbabwe vs West Indies betting tips to help punters. They can use my recommendations to place bets at the best T20 world cup betting sites.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies

Zimbabwe Team Review

Getting on with my Zimbabwe vs West Indies predictions, I must now consider the possible playing eleven for Zimbabwe. The wicketkeeping slot goes to Chakabva. Top order batters R Buri, M Shumba and Craig Ervine select themselves.

Automatic selections are also due to all-rounders S Raza, S Williams, and W Madhevere. My four bowling slots go to L Jongwe, B Evans, V Nyauchi and J Masara.

West Indies Team Review

In this segment of my T20 world cup betting tips, I will name the probable West Indies playing eleven. Nicholas Pooran is likely to don the keeping gloves. Hetmyer, Powell, Brooks and King will form the top order.

Odean Smith and Holder will provide all-round value, and occupy lower middle order batting slots. Seamers Drakes, McCoy and Joseph are also automatic choices. The wicket at Hobart is known to assist spin. So, slow left-armer Akeal Hossain will complete the eleven.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies Head-to-Head

I analyse how the two sides have fared head-to-head, in this part of my Zimbabwe vs West Indies predictions. The teams have faced off against each other in 3 T20 internationals. While Zimbabwe have won one of those, West Indies have won the other two.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies Last Meeting

The teams last met in the second of a two-match series in North Sound, on 3 March 2013. Winning the toss, West Indies elected to bat first. After they lost opener Johnson Charles in the 4th over, with only 19 runs on the board, the home side recovered. The recovery came on the back of a 42-run second wicket stand between Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Bravo.

After Bravo departed in the 10th over, wickets fell at regular intervals. However, the home side managed to post a reasonable score of 158/7, thanks largely to a 57-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell. Pollard top scored, remaining unbeaten on 45 made from 24 balls.

None of the five Zimbabwe bowlers on the day went wicketless. While M’shangwa and Mutombodzi took two each, Mpofu, Chatara and Utseya shared the three other wickets that fell.

Zimbabwe’s chase did not get off to a good start. Opener Chibhabha departed in the 4th over to leave the scorecard reading 17/1. Regular wickets thereafter saw the visitors reduced to 68 for 4, when Craig Ervine was out. A 23-run partnership for the next wicket between Masakadza and Mutombodzi gave the scoreboard some semblance of respectability.

However, at 91 for 5 in the 17th over, the asking rate had climbed to nearly 20 an over. The silver lining was a half-century for Mazakadza who remained not out on 53 from 51 balls. Zimbabwe finished with 117/6, rendering West Indies the winners by 41 runs.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Players to Look out for

In my Zimbabwe vs West Indies betting tips, I consider the players most likely to impress. Among Zimbabwe players, I must first mention Sikandar Raza, who has been in the form of his life in 2022. Craig Ervine, who has served the side since 2010, is probably playing his last world cup. I expect Ervine to give it his best shot. Another player who has been in the news for his all-round ability, recently, is W Madhevere.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Toss Prediction

In this next segment of my Zimbabwe vs West Indies betting tips, I predict the toss winner. At the time of writing, Zimbabwe have had a hat-trick of toss wins against Bangladesh. By contrast, West Indies have lost two tosses in succession versus New Zealand. I predict that West Indies will win the toss in the world cup qualifier group game versus Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Highest Scorer

I focus this segment of my Zimbabwe vs West Indies betting tips to predicting the highest scorer of the game. While there are several candidates, I predict that Zimbabwe’s batting all-rounder Sikander Raza will grab that honour. Raza has been in piping hot form through 2022. I expect him to continue in the same vein versus the West Indies.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Highest Wicket Taker

I will now use my world cup betting tips 2022 to tell readers who will take the most wickets. I predict that West Indies spinner Akeal Hossain will gain the most scalps. I expect the Zimbabwe batters to go after the lone spinner and pay the penalty.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Highest Sixer Hitter

It’s time to turn my world cup betting tips 2022 to naming who will hit the most sixes. I predict that West Indian opener Shamarh Brooks will earn that honour. Brooks, a compulsively aggressive batter, will enjoy the benefit of facing the hard new ball in the powerplay overs.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Most Economical Bowler

Who, as per my world cup betting tips 2022, will be the most economical bowler? In other words, who will give away the fewest runs in his full quota of overs. My vote goes to slow left arm orthodox spinner, Akeal Hossain. Hossain has a reputation for keeping batters quiet after the powerplay overs. I expect him to repeat the show against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Most catches

I will now use my statistical world cup betting tips 2022 to name the player likely to take the most catches. In my view, Zimbabwe’s predominant seam attack will result in many catching opportunities behind the stumps. I predict that Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Chakabva will snare the most catches in the world cup qualifier group game versus WI.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies: Dream 11 Predictions

I dedicate this last section of my world cup betting tips 2022 to listing the players in my Dream 11. The following are my Dream 11 fantasy cricket squad for the t20 world cup match between Zimbabwe and West Indies. I have selected 4 Zimbabwean and 7 West Indian players. Note: I might decide to make strategic changes to the squad during the event.

  • Wicket keepers: Regis Chakabva, Nicholas Pooran
  • Batters: Craig Ervine, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell
  • All-rounders: Jason Holder, Sikander Raza, Odean Smith
  • Bowlers: Brad Evans, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy

My Zimbabwe vs West Indies Dream 11 team will be skippered by Sikander Raza. My nominated vice-captain is Nicholas Pooran.
